| At about 8:00 AM on Sunday, June 17th, the Lititz, Brunnerville and Rothsville fire companies, along with Warwick Ambulance, were dispatched for a house fire in Lititz Borough. We arrived to find a duplex home with an active fire burning in the basement of the one house. The first arriving engine from Lititz was able to quickly extinguish the fire after forcing entry into the home through the back door.
Basement fires are extremely dangerous. Our crews were well supported and assisted by our neighboring fire departments.
Gratefully, all the residents were safely out of the house when we arrived. All of the emergency services personnel were unhurt despite the great risk they faced and all the hard work put forth.
On a lighter note, the crew arriving on the first engine consisted of father/son duo John and Brett Shoultz. This was Brett's first fire since becoming a recent fully certified firefighter. Dad was proud to have the opportunity to be with his son on his first fire, especially on Father's Day! |
