| On July 25th the Lititz Fire Company had a photo shoot with Canadian photographer Charles Hope of "The Fire Within" Foundation. "The Fire Within" was started by Chad Sartison of Priddis, Alberta, Canada. Several years ago Chad stopped at a fundraiser being held by the Priddis Fire Company and was intrigued by all the firefighters had to do as volunteers including raising funds. As a result of this chance encounter, Chad became a volunteer with Priddis and started "The Fire Within" Foundation as a way to "equip, educate and train" firefighters. Chad created the concept of the calendar as a fundraiser and a way for the fire company to have an opportunity to share its story with the public.
The first ever edition of the calendar is coming to the United States and the first US fire companies to participate are right here in Lancaster County! In addition to Lititz, 10 other fire companies will be in the 2011 calendar and they include: Brunnerville; Rothsville; Manheim; Penryn; Mastersonville; Mountville; Gordonville; Gap; New Holland and Terre Hill.
The LFC chose numerous places around Lititz to use as a backdrop and based on lighting conditions Charles leaned toward using the Wilbur Chocolate factory and the Lititz Train Station as our backdrop. We set-up the shot on North Broad Street and had to manage the effort with a lot of traffic moving through town but we were successful in getting some great shots.
We hoped to move to a second location for an alternative choice but, unfortunately, a storm blew through town putting an end to anymore photos that day.
We invite you to contact us to purchase your 2011 calendar featuring your hometown fire company and fire companies from around the County. You can contact us through our website and pre-order your calendar today. The cost is $20.00.
